The Muse is the Mountain

Short Documentary
Runtime: 49:00
Director: Teresa Mular

A contemporary portrait of artisan women from Monteverde , Costa Rica, captured through interviews, most of them conducted in their own surroundings, far removed from urban places. Interweaving personal stories of struggle and perseverance with landscapes of nature, this films lets us see the pressure exerted on repressed women, mostly peasants, by a 20th century male dominated society . And despite everything or perhaps because of that, it shows the relative independence that many of these women have achieved. We can see the survival of nature and that of a group of women with an iron will and an invincible spirit. A real window into the creative path of humble and spiritual women, who get inspired by their beautiful surroundings: the Mountain and Nature
