Hands is a work of fiction about a British sculptor who has lost the use of her hands. It is based on a personal experience working as the ‘hands’ for historian and public intellectual Tony Judt who died from ALS in 2010. The film raises questions about the values of perseverance over defeat, as we watch three characters undergo a similar internal conflict as they all face a loss of control.
